- Soil
Jamun fruit requires well-draining soil, rich in nutrients having a pH range of 6.5 to 7.5. However, loamy soil with a little sand is ideal for the plant. Jamuns are quite hardy and can easily survive the waterlogged and saline condition.
- Climate
As the trees are native to the Indian Subcontinent, the subtropical and the tropical climate becomes ideal for them. The plants may need a dryer temperature while flowering and fruiting. Early rains can prove beneficial for the growth of the plant.

Plant the trees in a sunny spot, as they need an ample amount of the sun to grow. You can also cover them with a cotton cloth to prevent sun damage in high summer temperature.
- Irrigation
Don’t forget to irrigate your plants thoroughly! Jamun plants need a large amount of water to prosper well, especially during the early growth, where they require frequent irrigation. However, you can lessen the frequency of irrigation as the plant grows.
- Fertilizers
Generally, these plants do not need any manuring. Nonetheless, you may provide the plants with small dozes of rotted cow dung manure (Gobar ki khaad). Doing this will add to the nutrient capacity of the soil.
- Propagation
You can propagate these plants by using the seeds from the fruit itself. After growing seedlings from these seeds, you can easily propagate these saplings to the garden or a pot, wherever you desire. However, it is better to grow these plants from crafted young trees that you can easily buy from a nearby nursery.
