Satyanashi ka Paudha is a member of the Argemone genus and is native to America. The genus contains approximately 30 members and is a member of the Papaveraceae family of plants (better known as the poppy family).

The stems of these plants are cylindrical and exude a milky sap. Its flowers are yellow and approximately 2.5 inches in diameter. The plant is popular as Mexican Poppy in English.
