Sansevieria Whitney is one of the cultivars of Snake Plant with a stunning rosette of dark-green leaves with white borders. This plant has a good tolerance for different light levels ranging from direct sun to shade. Its undemanding and resilient nature makes it one of the most sought-after plants among busy gardeners.

From Leaf Cuttings

  • Cut about 8-10 inches long leaf from the plant.
  • Plant each cutting into individual pots filled with good potting media.
  • Keep the plant in bright, indirect sunlight. Mist the soil thoroughly and deeply.
  • It will take around 4-6 weeks to develop new roots.

From Division / Pups

  • Take the whole plant out of the pot and examine the rhizomes.
  • Using a sterilized gardening knife, separate the pups from lower roots.
  • Plant each pup into individual pots. Mist thoroughly and place in bright, indirect sunlight.
  • New shoots will form in a couple of weeks.

The plant grows well in partial to direct sunlight. Choose a spot that gets 3-4 hours of direct sun every day. Avoid keeping the plant in a shaded or dark spot.


It is a drought-tolerant plant and can do well with minimal watering. Water it only when the top 1-2 inches of the soil feels dry to touch. Avoid overwatering the plant, as it can do more harm than any good.
