Best Homemade Plant Foods to Keep Your Plants Happy
1. Epsom Salt and Baking Soda
Add 1 and a half tablespoon of Epsom salt and baking soda, along with half a teaspoon of ammonia in a jug. Now, add 2 liters of water and mix well to make a solution. You can use it to water your plants, once every month.
It is a great source of magnesium and helps the plants in photosynthesis and absorb crucial minerals from the soil.
2. Fish Emulsion
Take a container and fill it 1/4 with water and 1/4 with fish waste (scales, head, and flesh) and let it steep for a day. Now, fill the remaining container with water and leave it to ferment for 2-3 weeks. You can use this on vegetable and flowering plants once every month for lush growth!
3. Green Tea
Brew green tea in half a liter of water and let it cool until it attains room temperature. You can use it to water your plants once every 4-5 weeks. It aids the growth by providing necessary nutrients like calcium, potassium, phosphorus, and manganese to the soil.
4. Banana Peels
Banana peels are an abundant source of phosphorus and minerals like calcium, magnesium, and sodium. Topdress the soil with dried peels or mix them in the soil.
It enhances the water retentiveness and slow decomposition while enriching the soil quality.
5. Bone Meal
Bone meal provides an ample amount of phosphorus and calcium to the soil. Clean the bones off any meat particles and boil them till they become soft. Let them dry and make a powder by grinding the bones in a blender.
You can sprinkle it over the soil or mix it with any organic fertilizer to feed the plant.
6. Eggshells
Eggshells are an excellent source of phosphorus and calcium that aids the plant’s growth. The most feasible method is to crush the eggshells and mix them into the soil thoroughly. They decompose slowly and work as time-release fertilizer for plants like tomato, pepper, spinach, and lettuce.

7. Manure Tea
One of the most organic ways to feed the plant is manure tea. If you can use the manure waste cow, horse, pig, or any animal. Just wrap the manure in a burlap bag and tie it on a bucket filled with water.
Let the manure steep for 3-4 days until it starts giving a foul smell. You can use this water for fertilizing your Saffron once a month.

8. Vegetable Scraps
Blend vegetable and fruit scraps with water into a smooth paste using a blender. Add half a tablespoon of Epsom salt and Ammonia to make it more potent. Let the paste rest for 24 hours, and it will be ready to use!
Dilute a quarter of this paste in a liter of water and use it on plants every few weeks.
