What is Sapodilla or Chikoo
It is a tropical fruit with very sweet pulp, encasing black inedible seeds. The grainy textured fruit is also a great addition to fruit salads, jams, ice creams, and milkshakes. It is an umpteen source of fibers, anti-oxidants, vitamin A, C, and many minerals. Though the chikoo is considered a boon for gut health, acne, vision problem, and immunity, its excess consumption can have the following drawbacks.
Side Effects of Excessive Consumption of Chikoo
1. Allergic Reactions
The compound known as latex and tannins may cause an allergic reaction in some people. It can be in the form of skin rashes and swelling around the neck that arises right after the fruit intake, as reported by some patients.
2. Not Healthy for Diabetic Patients
The fruit is very high in sugar and calories that can increase the sucrose level in the blood. Diabetic patients must avoid its consumption or at least must take it in a controlled manner.
3. Abdominal Pain
