How to Grow a Royal Palm Tree from Seed

You can purchase quality seeds from the local vendor, but the fresh seeds collected from the fruit of the palm plant provide the best results. Once the fruit ripens and becomes brown, you can harvest the fruit. Take out the fruit capsule, and let it dry for a couple of days at any shady location. Then, extract the seeds from the fruit capsule and rinse them with water. Soak the seeds in lukewarm water for 24-hours before sowing to loosen the seed coat. Make sure to sow the seeds within 2-weeks, else the seeds will lose their viability.

• Start with a small 6-inches pot and fill it with a mixture of peat and perlite.
• Dig a hole in the soil, and sow the seeds around 1/4-inch deep.
• It is recommended to sow multiple seeds, as not every seed might germinate.
• Cover the seeds with soil and mist adequately.
• Place the pot at any shaded location.
• The seedling will emerge after a couple of weeks.
