How to Grow Sansevieria ehrenbergii?

By Division

  1. Take the whole plant out of the pot.
  2. Shake off the excess soil from the rootball while keeping the roots intact.
  3. Using a sanitized shear, divide in such a way that each clump has its own set of roots and leaves.
  4. Plant them individually in different pots, water well, and keep them in a spot that gets bright, indirect sunlight.
  5. You will witness new growth in a couple of weeks.

By Leaf Cutting

  1. Snip off any healthy, mature leaf using a sanitized shear.
  2. Divide the leaf into segments at least 8-10 cm each.
  3. Let the leaf segments dry out for a couple of days to form callus.
  4. Plant them in a succulent potting mix.
  5. Mist the soil thoroughly, and place in bright, indirect sunlight.
  6. It will take around 4-6 weeks to develop new shoots.

Samurai snake plant will do best in 3-5 hours of direct sunlight. You can also keep it in bright, indirect light. Do make sure to never grow it at a shaded or dark spot.

Soil

Use a succulent or cactus potting mix as a samurai soil. You can also DIY the same by blending three parts of potting soil, two parts of coarse sand, and one part of perlite.

Watering

Water the plant deeply whenever the top few inches of the soil feels completely dry to touch. Avoid overwatering the plant as it can attract fungal issues.

Humidity

Although this plant can tolerate drought to some extent, it enjoys additional humidity. Use a humidifier, or by keeping the plant atop a pebble tray filled with water.
