How to Grow Betel Leaf Plant in Water?

Growing the plant in water is a fairly easy process.

  • Take a 4-6 inches long cutting from a healthy plant.
  • Snip by making 45 degree cut using a sharp knife just below the leaf node.
  • Remove all the lower leaves except the ones on the top.
  • Now, plant the cutting in a vase or jar filled with nonchlorinated water.
  • Keep it at a location where it gets plenty of bright but indirect light.
  • Change the water every 3-4 days.
  • The roots will form in 2-3 weeks.

Note: Though you can use water to make the cuttings form roots, the plant won’t grow as effectively in water as it would in soil. It is advisable to root the plant directly in well-draining soil. Purchasing a healthy plant from nurseries is always the best option.
