Fertilizers are the crucial supplements responsible for the healthy growth of any plant. Jasmine is famous for its scented and velvety blossoms that consistently flowers during the growing period. Jasmine plants can be supplemented with various fertilizers for encouraging extended flowering and optimal growth. It prefers feeding with a high amount of phosphorus. Chemical fertilizers are denoted with their NPK ratio. It denotes the ratio of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium that are important for enriching the quality of the soil. But, you can prepare an organic fertilizer at home using the basic kitchen scraps. Since, many gardeners avoid using market fertilizer, due to the chemical content. Best Fertilizers For Jasmin Plant

1. Homemade Compost

Well-decomposed compost can impart all the nutrients to the Jasmin plant soil. Hence, topdressing the soil with this mulch churns out the better results. You can use the leftovers from your home in preparing it. The compost should have the right balance between carbon and nitrogen. And as a thumb rule, it should have more carbon content and lesser nitrogen content. Start your pile at bare earth for better aeration, and first put a layer of twigs. Then, put everything in layers. Slightly moist and cover it with plastic. Mix it with a shovel.

Carbon Sources: Branches, dried leaves, peels, bits of wood, bark dust, corn stalks, eggshells, straw, peat moss, wood ash

Nitrogen Sources: Manure, food scraps, lawn clippings, kitchen waste, and green leaves

Note: Do not use meat, bones, walnut leaves, and fish scraps for composting, as they attract pests.

2. Homemade Compost Tea

For brewing the compost tea, take a 4-5 liter bucket, and add one shovelful of the compost in it. You can use homemade compost or purchase it from the market. Fill the bucket with water and mix the content thoroughly. Let it stand for 2-3 days. Keep stirring the content in between. Then apply 2 cups of tea near the roots of the Jasmin plant, twice a week.

Note: Gardeners also add a few drops of seaweed and molasses along with compile, but it is totally optional.

3. Coffee Ground

Jasmine plant prefers slightly acidic soil with a pH range of 5-8. So, supplementing it with coffee grounds can be the best bet. Coffee grounds are rich in nitrogen, magnesium, and potassium that elevate the acidity of the soil. Just spread the coffee ground on a sheet and let it dry overnight. Then, sprinkle these ground to the rootball of the Jasmine plant.
