You can also use fish emulsion, bone meal, and leftover tea leaves for more flowers. Mix 2 tablespoons in the soil, once in 5-6 weeks, for best results.

Follow these Tips to Get More Roses than Leaves

1. More Sunlight

The top requirement for blooming is 4-6 hours of direct sun per day. More light will result in better blooms. Shady corners are a big no for roses as they will hamper blooming and will invite pests problems.

2. Pruning and Deadheading

Pruning prompts abundant flowering throughout the booming season. Trim away the leaves and cut thin, weak growth. Also, snip off any diseased, criss-cross, or dead branches.

Cut 1/4” to 1/2” above the node. This will encourage the new stems to grow outward. Make cuts at a 45-degree angle. Also, do not forget to snip spent flowers.

3. The Right Growing Medium

Roses need well-draining, porous, and fertile soil. Make sure you add some cow dung manure, or compost in the growing medium prior to planting. For potted plants, use a standard potting mix instead of the garden soil.

4. Water Right

Keep the soil consistently moist but also make sure you are not overwatering the plants. Water when the topsoil feels a bit dry to touch. Also, do not let the soil go completely dry.

5. Save them from Pests

Roses attract pollinators like butterflies, bees, and also insects and pests. Use an insecticidal soap or neem oil solution to deter them away to help the plant bloom abundantly!

6. Choosing the Right Variety

Grow varieties like bright melody, carefree delight, danae, fairy moss, the fairy, sexy rexy, and touch of class. They flower better and will definitely make the plant have more blooms than leaves!

7. Feed them Right

Roses are heavy feeders and you have to make sure to fertilize them right. Use alfalfa meal (5-1-2) once in 4-5 weeks for better blooms. You can also go with a 3-4-3 mix.
