The best way to grow Gular ka ped is by seeds. However, this way, the Gular Tree will take its own sweet time to reach its full height. To save time, it is best to get a well-grown Audumbar Tree from a nursery and transplant it into your garden.

You can also grow Audumbar Tree from cuttings. Simply take one from a healthy Gular ka ped and plant it in a pot filled with a well-draining potting mix. Water well and keep it at a spot where it gets 3-4 hours of direct sunlight. Save it from the harsh afternoon sun at this stage. The cuttings will form new growth in 2-4 weeks.

Sunlight

Audumbar Tree grows best in direct sunlight. So, while choosing a spot in your garden, make sure it gets atleast 4-6 hours of direct sun every day. The gular tree won’t thrive in a shady location, especially when young.

Gular ka ped can do well in shade only when it is established and has grown to 20-30 feet.

Soil

Gular Tree is not fussy about the growing medium and will do well in regular garden soil. If starting the plant in a pot, amend the soil with plenty of organic matter, coco peat, and vermicompost.

Once the Audumbar Tree grows to a height of 3-5 feet, transplant it into the garden in the regular soil, and it will grow just fine.

Watering

Watering gular tree is not something you have to worry about. Water the plant when young, once in 3-5 days. Audumbar Trees are quite strong and will take care of their watering needs once they grow 8-12 feet tall.

Note: Just ensure you are never overwatering a young Gular Tree. 

Climate

Audumbar Trees like to grow in hot and humid climates as they are tropical plants. Indian climate serves the best for their best growth. Gular trees can easily withstand temperatures between 15-45 C.

Gular trees are not heavy feeders, and you don’t have to worry about fertilizing them, especially if you have amended the soil with cow dung manure or vermicompost at the time of planting.

To boost the growth of Audumbar Tree, use a balanced liquid fertlizer, diluted to 1/2 of its strength, once in 4-6 weeks. Do this when the plant is young. Also, stop feeding Gular ka Ped in winter.

Pests & Diseases

The Audumbar tree is pest resistant but may be prone to thrips, whitefly scales, and spider mites when young. You can use insecticidal soap to get rid of most pests.

To keep gular tree diseases free, ensure not to overwater it when the plant is young.
