From Cuttings

  • Select a healthy plant and make a cut right below the leaf line that includes at least one node, as the roots grow from this section.
  • Plant it in four parts of peat moss or coir fiber, three parts of perlite, and one part of coarse sand.
  • Place the cutting at any bright, indirect sunlight and well-ventilated location.
  • New roots will appear within 4-6 weeks.

From Air Layering

  1. Take a sanitized knife and carefully scrape away a layer of bark from the plant’s stem.
  2. The cut you are making on the stem should be half an inch wide. Apply rooting hormone on the cut section.
  3. Apply moist sphagnum moss on the cut wounded part and cover with aluminum foil.
  4. Keep checking every 2 weeks for the growth of new roots. When you do, snip off the rooted portion, and plant it in a pot filled with well-draining potting mix.

Sunlight

It responds well to the bright, indirect sunlight. Make sure you don’t keep the plant in the harsh afternoon Indian sun. The plant will benefit from 1-2 hours of the direct morning sun.

Soil

This plant grows best in well-draining and porous potting soil. Use a standard potting mix or loamy soil amended with sand and peat moss.

Watering

Water deeply when the topsoil feels dry to touch. Let the growing medium dry out a bit before watering again. Avoid overwatering the soil as it can cause fungal infection.

Fertilizer

Feed the plant with a water-soluble, balanced fertilizer, once in 6-8 weeks. Do refer to the label for dosage and instructions.
