Bela ka Phool in English is popular as Arabian Jasmine. People also call it by different names in different parts of India. These plants have glossy, dark green, and oval leaves, which contrast the highly fragrant white flowers that fade to pink as they mature.

These beautiful blooms appear all summer and may continue to bloom year-round in warm climates. They can be trained to grow as a flowering vine with supports or maintained as a sprawling shrub. It also does very well in containers and makes an eye-catching plant for patios and porches.

Requirements to Grow Bela ka Phool

 

Sunlight

Like all flowers, Bela ka Phool needs a minimum of 6-7 hours or direct and intense sunlight to grow best. The more sun these plants will get, the better it will for their growth and number of blooms.

Do not keep the plant in a shaded location as it will result in no flowers. If you are planning to grow it indoors, then there are high chances that it will never flower. You can keep its pot on a sunny windowsill or balcony.

Soil

Bela ka Phool is not fussy about the growing medium as long as you amend it with a handful or more of cow dung manure every month. To boost the growth and flowers, amend the soil with coco peat, vermicompost, eggshells, and 4-5 dried banana peels at the time of planting.

Watering

To ensure you get the best flowers from Arabian Jasmine, keep the soil a little on the moist side all the time. Do this by watering the plant whenever the topsoil feels a little dry to the touch. Do not water the plant daily and also ensure the soil is never completely dry.

Bela ka Phool can get affected by aphids, and spider mites but only when the plant is not getting proper sunlight or air. To keep them at bay, you can use insecticidal soap solution.
