Sunlight

Like all flowers, Genda ka Phool is going to grow and bloom best when it will get a minimum of 5-6 hours of direct and intense sunlight every day. The more light it will get, the better it is going to be for the growth of the plants and blooms.

Avoid growing it in the shade as it will result in fewer, small, or no blooms.

Soil

Amend the garden soil with plenty of organic matter, vermicompost, cow dung manure, and coco peat at the time of starting the plant. Keeping the soil ph roughly around 6.0 to 7.0 will make sure the plant flowers the best!

Water

When you plant Genda ka Phool, make sure to keep the soil slightly on the moist side all the time. Do this by watering the plant when the topsoil feels a little dry to the touch.

Do not water these flowers daily and also, never let the growing medium dry out completely.

Fertilizer

Marigolds do not need much feeding and if you have used a rich growing medium, then don’t bother about fertilizing these plants. To boost the growth and flowering, you may use a  5-10-5 fertilizer, once in 2 months. Do refer to the dosage and instructions on the label.

Pruning

Deadheading (cutting off spent flowers) will improve the plant’s appearance and encourage further blooming later in the season. Pinching young plants will help promote bushier growth.

Pests & Diseases

Genda ka Phool do not attract many pests and diseases, but some problems occasionally occur: Snails and slugs may eat leaves, especially on young plants. If you notice ragged holes in the foliage, this is likely to be the problem.

Aphids can sometimes be a problem, but horticultural soaps or oils easily handle them.

Powdery mildew is a fungal disease that is common in marigolds. The white residue on leaves is usually caused by fungal spores that splash up from the ground or between affected plants. The disease is unattractive but rarely fatal. Prevent it by providing good air circulation between plants and watering by ground-soaking rather than by overhead spraying.
