Sunlight

For Tabernamontana Divaricata to thrive, it needs bright, indirect sunlight. This sun exposure should last for atleast 5-6 hours throughout the day. Too much direct light can cause the leaves to wilt, so it’s recommended to keep this plant in a spot that receives some shade during the afternoon hours.

It can also tolerate some periods of low light levels, but too much shade will result in a weak and spindly growth habit. To ensure that your Tabernaemontana Divaricata gets the right amount of light, it’s best to locate it near a bright window or anywhere that receives bright, indirect sunlight throughout the day.

Soil

Soil should be well-draining and rich in organic matter. A pH range of 6.0 to 7.5 is ideal for optimum growth. Tabernaemontana Divaricata can grow in a range of soils, including sandy, loamy, and clay soils, as long as the soil is well-draining and not waterlogged.

Water

Tabernaemontana divaricata requires regular watering, especially during the hot summer months. Water the plant deeply, but avoid overwatering, which can cause root rot.

Allow the top inch of soil to dry out slightly between waterings. Reduce watering during the winter months when the plant is dormant.

Temperature

The optimum temperature range for the successful cultivation of Tabernaemontana Divaricata in India is between 20-32 °C. This temperature will ensure optimal growth of the plant as it is a tropical species and can tolerate hot climates (up to 38°C during the day).

Do not fertilize Tabernaemontana Divaricata during winter months when the plant is dormant.

Pruning

Prune Tabernaemontana Divaricata regularly to keep it in shape and encourage branching. Remove any dead, damaged, or diseased branches. Snip the plant after flowering to prevent it from becoming too leggy or overgrown.

Pests and Diseases

Tabernaemontana divaricata is relatively pest and disease resistant. However, it can be affected by spider mites, scale insects, and whiteflies. Regular monitoring and early intervention can help prevent these issues. In case of infestation, use insecticidal soap or neem oil to control the pests.
